Triple M Slice……Maltesers, M&M’s & More!

Triple M slice 2

Are you a fan of Maltesers, M&M’s or White Chocolate?  If your answer is yes, then you’re in the right place! And if your answer is no, well I still think I can convert you because I had our dark chocolate loving Zadada eating these 3 delicious chocolates in one delicious slice!

Mum recently celebrated a birthday and yes I made her a Nanna Mac Cake (she twisted my arm) and I also made one of her favourite slices……. Licorice Allsort Slice. Both turned out really well. Let’s just say we consumed a little more sugar than we should have but what are birthdays for?

A few days after the celebrations I remembered the leftover condensed milk I had sitting in the fridge, I started thinking maybe I would make another licorice allsort slice (I didn’t want to waste that delicious condensed milk), then the collection of confectionery residing in the pantry popped into my head. After Christmas, Zadada’s birthday and now Mum’s birthday my pantry has got quite the selection of leftover chocolates and lollies. Making another licorice allsort slice got pushed back to being my plan B, I now had some white chocolate, maltesers and crispy M&M’s in my sights to make a slice and help me use up that condensed milk.

I love how quick and easy the licorice allsort slice is to put together (no bake slices are always winners) so I just tweaked that recipe to incorporate the selection of chocolates I now had sitting in front of me on the kitchen bench.

Success it was!

The kidlets arrived home from school to discover a treat they don’t usually get unless it’s a special occasion. The excited blogger in me really wanted some good road testers to try the slice so the Mummy in me cut the already sliced up treats in half again making perfect mouthful sized portions ready for little taste testers.

I got a thumbs up from all three kidlets as well as one dark chocolate loving Zadada, for the remainder of the week the four of them were asking for more of THAT slice! They enjoyed a few more bite sized pieces, I did end up taking some to share around at work so they we didn’t OD! Out of sight out of mind….you know what I mean!

This Triple M Slice is the perfect party celebration slice, great for sharing and oh so decadently CHOCOLICIOUS!

PS – Don’t be scared away from this slice for not owning a food processor! Sure it will make the job easier if you have one but you don’t have to miss out, you can just use a rolling pin to crush your biscuits and maltesers (that’s exactly what I used to do!), I guarantee your slice will still taste the same.

  • 250g packet Marie biscuits
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa, sifted
  • 100g butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon golden syrup
  • ½ tin sweetened condensed milk (approx. 200g)
  • 1 cup maltesers (approx. 100g)
  • TOPPING
  • 2 x 200g blocks white chocolate
  • 100g butter, cubed
  • 24 crispy M&M's
Instructions
  1. Line a 18cm x 28cm x 3cm slice tin with baking paper.
  2. Process biscuits to a fine crumb. (if you don’t have a food processor pop the biscuits as well as maltesers in a snap lock bag and roll with a rolling-pin).
  3. Add cocoa, melted butter, syrup, and condensed milk and process until you have a very moist, sticky sand like mixture. (No processor- just mix together in a bowl).
  4. Add the maltesers and give a few quick pulses until evenly distributed through mixture (No processor - your maltesers got crushed with biscuits in step 2).
  5. Press mixture into tin.
  6. Cover with foil and place in fridge for 20 minutes.
  7. Meanwhile melt chocolate and butter together to create your thick chocolaty topping by placing chocolate and butter in a microwave safe bowl and heat at 30 second intervals stirring in between, should only take 1 - 1.5 mins to get mixture to an icing consistency. Alternatively you can use conventional double boiler method on stove top.
  8. Spread topping over slice and position M&M's on top. Cover with foil and place back in fridge for at least 2 hours or until topping is firm enough to slice through.
  9. Slice into squares.
  10. Enjoy!
