Fabulous Foodie Fridays #58

Fabulous Foodie Friday Feature 58

Welcome to our first July 2015 edition of Fabulous Foodie Fridays!

Can you believe we’ve hit the second half of the year already? I know one Zadada can……. being an accountant the last few weeks have been crazier than usual for him. Fingers crossed things start to settle down a little now and his 8pm finishes disappear for a while 😉

Week 1 of our School holidays is flying along, I thought I’d share a bit of what’s been happening…..

We kicked things off last weekend with a family date night at the Movies, we watched Inside Out and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all 5 family members, the bonus being not one toilet break was requested!

We managed a playdate at home with some very special interstate friends of ours, unfortunately the weather was quite damp but the 8 kidlets didn’t let it bother them, they played so lovely together. No pictures were taken as we were too busy having fun!

The Sun finally started to creep out from behind those rainy clouds mid week and we got to venture outside. Everyone loves a trampoline don’t they? This was my entertainment while hanging out the clothes .

Our guinea pigs are lapping up this school holiday business!

And life wouldn’t be complete without a little kitchen adventure (you’ll see what we made next week!)

Instead of bedtime stories we’ve been having some paper -folding fun. I remembered how to make a paper crane from my year 8 Japanese lessons the kidlets were most impressed. Mr 10 then decided the following night that he’d run a paper plane making lesson to which all 5 family members took part, we followed it up with a race but again no pictures taken (we soaked up every moment instead).

In between all the fun and meltdowns (yes we have those too) I’ve been narrowing down last weeks linked up deliciousness to bring you my Fabulous Foodie Five……

These  Thai Chicken Balls from My Brown Paper Packages would not only have Zadada and my taste buds watering but Mr 10’s and Miss 7’s too, we love Thai food, looking forward to testing them out ASAP.

I love discovering salad combinations I haven’t thought to try before. This Mirin & Sesame Salad Dressing with Chicken and Lychees has me very intrigued. Such a fantastic combination of flavours. Plus Ate Six this is art on a plate, love your delicious work!

A No Bake Slice always grabs my attention and this Cookies & Cream Slice from Treat Yourself Sweeter is sitting very high on my must make list. I know what I’ll be making for the next take-a-plate request that gets sent my way.

Salmon is a fish I love to eat. The Sassy Cook brought an absolutely delicious looking Quinoa, Trout, Fetta & Herb Salad to our party last week, the great news for me is that Dianne says you can substitute salmon for the trout. I’m loving the sounds of that option, mind you I really should branch out and try the trout too, it looks amazing. Those pomegranate jewels almost look too pretty to eat, almost!

A recipe post with the word ‘quick’ in the title always works a treat with me especially when I get informed the same recipe ‘would be brought to heavenly heights with a swipe of Nutella…’, yes this is my kind of recipe! Thank you Thoroughly Nourished Life for sharing your Orange Hazelnut Quick Bread along with your beautiful, insightful journey of how you came to make it.
