Fabulous Foodie Fridays #57

Fabulous Foodie Fridays #57

Well hello there lovely people!

Welcome to this weeks edition of the absolutely delicious Fabulous Foodie Fridays.

I swear this week feels like I’ve blinked and here we are another week later. I guess after a full weekend of Dad’s 60th Birthday celebrations and a little cake project (yes it was a success if you were following) the 2 weeks have kind of joined but not in a bad way, so much fun has been involved as well as precious memory making moments !

As promised here’s some pictures of ‘Project Birthday Cake’.

In case you were wondering Dad’s second home is the golf course, (isn’t that right Mum?!)

Dad's Golf cake birds eye

Everything was edible on/in the cake except for the balls, the golfer and the flag! I made a double layer Chocolate cake (Nanna Mac’s Moist Chocolate Cake), joined them with a surprise filling of dark chocolate ganache, salted caramel and some mini m&m’s, then iced it all over with butter cream icing, so yummy!

The Birthday boy loved it!

And here we all are at the party except for my lovely almost SIL who was struck down with a tummy bug 🙁 and the kidlets who were running around having an absolute ball with the party bags Grandma put together for them!

Dad's 60th Family shot

While all this cake creating and partying was taking place our amazing bloggers were linking up yet another delicious round of edible blog posts.

Here’s my Favourite Foodie Five……

Bindybee combined two of my favourite flavours creating this Chocolate and Ginger Cake it’s definitely on my to do list!

Our very own Bake Play Smile with an oh so delicious looking Gluten-Free Lemon, Ricotta & Almond Cake! I just couldn’t resist but to share it again in its full size glory! I love lemons in baking and I love that all my Gluten-free readers can enjoy this little treasure too.

Caleigh’s Kitchen has me very intrigued with these  Gluten Free Black Bean, Goat Cheese & Caramelised Onion Empanadas, after reading through her gorgeous post and seeing how straight forward these little treasures are to make they’ll definitely be making an appearance in Zamamabakes HQ very soon.

This Healthy Banoffee Pie from Pretty Wee Things is going to be the perfect compromise to my stock standard desserts, ticking all the healthy boxes it’s dairy free, gluten free and refined sugar free! Banana’s are not something I usually enjoy unless they’re in a banoffee pie……..Pretty Wee Things you must have known 😉

Just a little more citrus goodness (I seriously can’t get enough) from  Only Crumbs Remain  with these Lemon Curd Squares. Apparently one slice is not enough and I can so believe how moreish these little delights would be. How about we boil the jug right now?

Lime Curd Square with flowers

Have you got a golfing obsessed Dad or Husband?

Anyone else looking forward to school holidays? No ironing uniforms, making lunch boxes, strict time schedules or homework……Yay, Yay, Yay and Yay!

Don’t forget to pop over and check out Lucy and Lauren’s favourite picks too!

Wishing you all a delicious, safe and happy weekend ahead.

  8. Dannielle, that cake is amazing!!! Oh my Gosh. How long did that take you. I love that you didn’t just have a regular sponge underneath, you went all out and put all of those goodies inside. You’re a true master xx

Thanks Renee. So the icing & decorating took about 4 hours. I had made cakes ahead of time froze them then defrosted the night before cake project day! Wouldn’t have happened without the support and help from one Zadada with the kidlets. We looked at it as part of our gift to Dad, so worth the look on his face when he saw it! He’s still talking about it.
