Fabulous Foodie Fridays #54

Hello lovely people and welcome to another absolutely delicious round of Fabulous Foodie Fridays!

I’m loving the fact that this weekend is a loooooong one here in Australia (except for WA, you catch up in September), fingers crossed I get to squeeze a little kitchen creativity in as well as some fun family time.

Before I get to my Fabulous Foodie 5 I thought I’d share a certain subject my 2 girls have been chatting about lately…….’my facial expressions’ apparently there is a particular one I do when I’m concentrating, which happens a lot (according to the facial expression police) I can be cooking, washing someone’s hair, reading, driving, cutting out pictures, digging out a splinter, making lunches, grooming the dog, typing, washing up, wiping faces, cutting finger nails, helping with homework, pretty much anything that involves me being busy without speaking, my face is ‘doing it again’ according to the girls. I’ve even got Miss 4 sneaking up on me, peering around corners to see if I’m ‘doing it again’. The funny thing is if I try to deliberately pull this ‘doing it again’ face I can’t, the girls tell me ‘no that’s not it’.

Do you have a thing your family says you do without you realising that you are doing it?

I’m not quite sure what the fascination is with my ‘doing it again’ face but I’ve got two little girls acting like spy’s trying to catch me out! I’ll have to give them a camera so they can show me what’s so entertaining!

Now for the stuff that is edibley entertaining…….my Fabulous Foodie 5 for this week……

You all know I have quite a thing for Nutella, who doesn’t? So I’m quite sure you won’t be surprised to see these delicious Nutella Stuffed Choc Chip Cookies with Sea Salt from Love Swah in my mix……..OMG!!! Seriously this gorgeous lady knows my taste buds all too well!

While we are on the subject of Chocolate and Salt (2 of my favs) I couldn’t go past this Salted Dark Chocolate Tart from Kitchen Uncorked, apart from the delicious flavour combo I’m loving the fact that her recipe requires no resting/refrigeration of the dough, meaning it gets to your mouth a whole lot quicker! Perfection!

Who loves a one bowl mixer? ME ME ME!!! The gorgeous Sammie over at The Annoyed Thyroid has the most delightful looking Chewy Carrot, Walnut and Sultana Slice with a mouth-watering lemon glaze to top it off. I can’t wait to whip it up, I’m hoping the extra day we have this long weekend will be my enabler!

These Chocolate and Orange Grain Free Muffins from The Sassy Cook had my taste buds watering, I love orange and dark chocolate as a flavour combination, so refreshing and so delicious. I need to plant myself an orange tree!

I thought I better balance things out with a hint of savouriness. I’m pretty sure most of you know I love my Slow Cooker, the kidlets and Zadada love Mexican food (as do I) so this Crockpot Taco Chilli from Tornadough Alli is going to fit with our little family just perfectly. What’s not to love!

  1. Ha ha, there is probably nothing exactly funny about your face but it is just that only they can see it. Kids! 🙂

  3. Kids are funny.
I was just saying to Neva tonight that she has a face that can’t lie.
She took my fork at dinner, which I didn’t see what as soon as I said “where did I put my fork” she said nothing but she pulls this face like a ever so small grin at the corner of her mouth, every time.

I told her to never play poker, she’d be terrible at it! lol

    Happy LOOONG weekend lovely! xx

  5. Apparently I have a ‘face’ too, but I have no idea I’m making mine either. It must just be the face mums make when we really want to roll our eyes, stick our fingers in our ears and sing lalalalalalala. x
